As the local specialty,Zhongjiang Dried Noodle is welcomed by people because of its unique craft and flavor.However,the vacancy of English publicity material makes it only possible to gain a foothold in the domestic market.The source text of the ChineseEnglish translation report is Introduction to Zhongjiang Dried Noodle,which mainly introduces the history,the environment of origin,features,value as well as the production process,exhibiting the omnipresent charm of Zhongjiang Dried Noodle.The translation report mainly consists of five chapters.Chapter One introduces the translation project,including the background,procedures,significance and objectives of the translation project.Chapter Two is the text analysis,which respectively analyzes the features of the international publicity text and the source text.Chapter Three introduces Newmark's Text Typology,semantic translation and communicative translation,and feasibility.As for Chapter Four,the translator combines semantic translation with communicative translation to summarize the solutions under the guidance of Text Typology.According to the function of texts,Newmark divides texts into three types,including expressive text,informative text and vocative text.The case analysis in this report are classified according to these three text types.As for the translation methods,retaining the original structure is used to translate the text with parallelism and simile,striving to reproduce the rhetorical effect of the source text.In order to accurately convey the original information of the source text,the translator adopts literal translation to translate the names of noodle dishes.Under the guidance of communicative translation,for four-character phrases,the translator employs free translation and omission to convey the original information on the premise of avoiding redundancy.In addition,omission is applied to the translation of category nouns to make the translation concise and clear.For culture-loaded expressions,the translator mainly adopts literal translation plus annotation,transliteration plus annotation and paraphrase to serve foreign readers while preserving the unique culture and long history.Besides,shift of subjects and addition are used to translate subject-repeated sentences.Paraphrase and inversion are used in the translation of quotation and noodle description.Chapter Five summarizes the translator's major findings,limitations and suggestions.Under the guidance of Newmark's Text Typology,this translation practice analyzes and summarizes the international publicity text of local specialty.The application of semantic translation and communicative translation as well as specific translation methods are demonstrated by analyzing specific cases,trying to provide references for the translation of the same type of text.
