Due to the rapid development of society and economy,more and more migrant workers appear,but most of their children receive education at home,being left-behind children.Left-behind high school students being in a critical period of life growing are often neglected by people.Their mental health problems are worth of investigation.The left-behind high school students' issue is also one of the main subject of national education research.According to the results of previous studies of left-behind children,adversity belief,perceived social support and mental health are closely related.To some extent individual adversity belief and perceived social support can predict their mental health.If an individual has a positive adversity belief in the remaining environment,he should be more likely to feel their kindness of others,and can get supports when he needs,so as to adapt to the environment to a certain degree and improve the level of mental health.So the study selects left-behind high school students as the research object on the basis of these studies.It attempts to explore the relationship among adversity belief,perceived social support and adaptive orientated mental health and tries to find the mediating effect of perceived social support between adversity belief and adaptive orientated mental health.This research uses these questionnaires:Mental Health Scale for Secondary School Students(MHS-SSS),Chinese Adversity Beliefs Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale(PSSS).The questionnaire survey was conducted among 752 students of Yao nationality autonomous county senior high school.The results are as follows:1.There is no difference in the adversity belief,perceived social support and adaptive orientated mental health between left-behind high school students and non-left-behind high school students.Left-behind high school students' perceived social support and adaptive orientated mental health have significant differences in the left-behind types and the frequency of contacting with parents.There are significant gender differences and grade differences in adaptive orientated mental health.2.There is a significant positive correlation between adversity belief and perceived social support.Adaptive orientated mental health is significantly positive related to perceived social support.3.Perceived social support plays a completely mediating role between adversity belief and mental health.Adversity belief has an indirect impact on mental health through perceived social support.4.In the perceived social support mediation model,the predicting path of adversity belief to mental health appeared significant differences between left-behind high school students and non-left-behind high school students.The effect of adversity belief on the mental health in non-left-behind high school students is significantly greater than left-behind high school students.Therefore,this research draws the conclusion:left-behind high school students' adversity belief has an indirect impact on mental health through perceived social support.Adversity belief plays a greater role in improving the mental health of non-left-behind high school students than left-behind high school students.
