"Seminar on Application of Urban Rail Transit for Developing Countries,2017"is hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, organized by Hunan International Business College and supported by Zhuzhou CRRC Times Electric Co.,LTD.This seminar has organized to share and communicate with the developing countries the achievements and experiences in rail transit construction and management. In short, participants could better know China through the teaching model of theory with practice, and improve their level of rail transit as well.In addition,China could use this opportunity to develop relative cooperative relationship with developing countries. The author served as the interpreter in this seminar. In his book"Basic Concepts and Models for Interpreter and Translator Training"in 1995,Gile put forward the Effort Model, which is still influential and significant in the study of interpretation. The model considers that every link needs the processing capacity of human brain in the process of interpreting, but the total amount of processing capacity is limited. Therefore, the rational distribution of energy in interpreting activities largely determines the success of interpretation. The present report attempts to analyze the Workshop CI from the perspective of Daniel Gile's Effort Model. This report focuses on interpreting strategies of EST(English for Science and technology)from the perspective of Effort Model theory.EST is featured by accuracy, simplicity, rigor and objectivity, which has placed higher demand on interpreting. At the same time,According to Daniel Gile's Effort Model, there are four main "efforts",or to say interpreters' mental energy, needed to deal with different tasks. They are the Listening and Analysis Effort, the Short-term Memory Effort, the Production Effort and the Coordination Effort respectively. This report picks out 22 cases(most are error cases)which are representative and typical for analysis, from the interpreting practice for the Seminar.Through the description of the specific problems in Listening,Memory,Production and Coordination, their triggers and corresponding coping strategies like pre-interpreting preparation,well-taken notes and Interpreting Method in the process of practice. It is hoped that it can help the interpreter to take coping strategies in the process of consecutive interpreting to better allocate mental efforts and maintain a stable performance.
