This is a practice report on the C-E simultaneous interpretation of the 18th China Changchun Sculpture Symposium Forum. This report is based on the author's practice experience during the event over the summer holiday as a volunteer interpreter.Through the author's field interpreting practice, two prominent problems stood out, which are information processing burden and excess energy consumed in listening comprehension respectively.Grounded on the Effort Modal theory of simultaneous interpretation proposed by Prof.Gile, the efforts can be better balanced during information input, storage, and output. The super short-term memory in simultaneous interpretation poses a grave challenge to the interpreter. This report aims to shed light on information processing burden and excess energy consumed in listening comprehension in real simultaneous interpretation scenario. With this in mind, the author employed two specific techniques, namely syntactic linearity and anticipation in interpreting in a bid to lighten the Listening and Analysis Comprehension Effort, resulting in a better coordination among those three efforts and a better job at simultaneous interpretation task for the interpreter.Field simultaneous interpreting not only sets a high bar for interpreters'linguistic skills, but also for their overall skills, such as quick response ability,non-verbal communication competence and so on.It is proved that the problems discussed in the report can be well addressed via syntactic linearity and anticipation, which in turn could be a help to other interpreters running into the identical problems.
