A Project Report On The Consecutive Interpreting For The 2017 Guangxi-ASEAN Innovation Cooperation Dialogue

The 2017 Guangxi-ASEAN Innovation Cooperation Dialogue was a branch conference to the China-ASEAN Technology Manager International Training Session,aiming to implement the national "Belt and Road" Initiative and the spirit of President Xi Jinping presented when he visited the Nanning Zhongguancun Innovation Demonstration Base on April 20th,2017.This greatly helped for Nanning to become an international gateway to ASEAN.All participants,through in-depth exchanges and cooperation in science and technology innovation,jointly discussed the new patterns and opportunities of cooperation and exchange between Guangxi and ASEAN countries.On June 23rd,2017,the author was fortunate to have independently undertaken the consecutive interpreting task for the 2017 Guangxi-ASEAN Innovation Cooperation Dialogue.Under the guidance of Experiential View,Prominent View and Attentional View from cognitive linguistics and by analyzing the combination of audio recording and text,the project report comprehensively analyzes the consecutive interpretation in this conference,covering the Introduction,Pre-interpreting Preparation,Brief Introduction to Cognitive Linguistics,Case Studies,Post-interpreting Evaluation and its Conclusion.This thesis is a project report which concerns the Chinese-English interpretation,focusing on the following five aspects:Introduction,Pre-interpreting Preparation,Case Studies from the Perspective of Cognitive Linguistics,Post-interpreting Evaluation and Conclusion.The chapter of task introduction is designed to introduce the background including time,place and theme of the conference,etc.Then,the report discusses the importance of pre-interpreting preparation from the three perspectives which are preparation of conference materials,familiarization with Asian accents and final preparation.In the case studies,the report,guided by cognitive linguistics,combines the examples in this communication process and analyzes the common techniques,coping strategies,and other factors that affect consecutive interpreting in this conference.Post-interpreting evaluation covers self-assessment,client and audience feedback.The final part addresses the conclusion and reflection on this task of many aspects of consecutive interpreting.The project report analyzes,assesses and summarizes the interpretation task in the hope of improving the author’s professional competence,and providing some reference and enlightenment for conference interpretation practitioners.
