A Practice Report On The Product Promotion Meeting Of Guangxi Yuanshengtai Agriculture Development Corporation Limited

This paper constitutes a practice report on Chinese to English consecutive interpreting.Entrusted by Hezhou Foreign and overseas Chinese affairs office,the author assumed the role as an interpreter for Guangxi Yuanshengtai Agricultural Development Corporation Limited on September 16th,2017,introducing its flagship products to businessmen coming from Indonesia and Thailand.This report analyzes and makes a conclusion to this interpreting,and it includes four parts,namely,task description,pre-interpreting preparation,case study and conclusion.First of all,the paper sets out to introduce the background information and purpose of the product promotion meeting,then makes a brief overview of the interpreting.The second chapter focuses on pre-interpreting preparation,including analysis on the task and audience,communication about interpreting task,on-site preparation and analysis on the whole preparation phase.The third chapter chooses specific cases to analyze,especially some sentences and words with Chinese characteristics.And the author tries to use skopos theory as a tool to deal with these difficulties.Also,the author lists some challenges in the interpreting and some feasible advice coping with on-site problems are given in next part of this chapter.The fourth chapter is about evaluations from the author himself,the entrusting party and the audience.In the fifth chapter,the report reflects on the whole interpreting and draws some conclusion.First,a good pre-interpreting preparation is the prerequisite of a successful interpreting.Second,interpreters should improve his liaison skills and psychological qualities.Third,interpreters need to acquire some knowledge of interpreting concepts.Last but not the least,large quantity of practice can help to improve on-site performance.All in all,the improvement of interpreting is by no means an easy task,and interpreters should keep learning and practicing.
