The Research On The Statue Of Quanzhen Temples Over The Yangtze River In Yuan Ming And Qing Dynasties

Quanzhen is a new taoism which Wang Chongyang of Shanxi province found in the early Southern Song Dynasty in Shandong,and in the beginning of Jin Dynasty developed into the largest religious group.After the reunification of the north and the south by Yuan Dynasty,Quanzhen school spread to the north and gradually spread throughout the Yangtze River.Taoist temple,as an important tool,which can reflect the prosperity of Quanzhen School in Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties over the Yangtze River.The statue should be studied by placed in taoist temple since taoist temple is the original condition of statue.In this paper,the statue of Quanzhen temples over the Yangtze River in Yuan,Ming and Qing Dynasties is the object.Firstly,sort out the statue of Quanzhen temples in the Yangtze River specifically.Then analyze the theme of taoist temple statues,the structure of taoist temple statues,the layout of taoist temple statues and so on,combined with the patriarch pedigree and mentoring relationship of Quanzhen Taoism at the same time.Finally,to summarize the development trend and characteristics of the statue of Quanzhen temples over the Yangtze River,such as the importance of patriarch,secularization,folklore and localization.Statues of taoist temple are statues for the immortal,the background of which some is clear and some is not.Therefore,this paper will focus on discrimination and analysis of the remains of immortals.In view of the evolutionary trajectory and openness of the taoist immortal system,this paper starts a comprehensive arrangement on the current situation of remains,literature material,folklore and other aspects.To verify the immortals in taoist temple and then find out some basic characteristics of taoist temple statues.Different from grotto statues,taoist temple statues are always facing with man-made changes or even damages.In this case,the number and authenticity of the remains are challenged,which brings difficulties to current research.However,taoist temple statues are rich in the literature material relatively,many materials can be explored in the traditional literature.Therefore,this paper has discussed the corresponding features of taoist temple statues by carding relevant literature materials.
