A Study Of The Development Of The Generalization Of Family Appellations In Chinese

Originating in the pre-Qin period,having developed through Han and Tang Dynasties to nowadays,the generalization of family appellations has shown various features in different periods.So far,in academic circles,the researches on the generalization of family appellations have been concentrated on the characteristics,types,and causes of them by chronic research,while lacking the clarification of the development of generalize appellations by diachronic research.This paper explores the generalization of the family appellations and its change from the pre-Qin period to the present,clarifies the the various characteristics of the generalization of the appellations in different periods and compares them.It sorts out the historical trajectory of the generalization of appellations and more fully describes the generalization of appellations.This article is divided into six parts,and the second part to the fifth part is the focus of this article.The first part defines the definition of "generalization of family appellations",briefly introduces the ancient and contemporary studies on the generalization of appellations,and analyzes the deficiencies of existing research and the research methods of this article.The second part mainly explores the the generalization of family appellations from the pre-Qin period to the Han dynasty.During this period,the form of generalization was relatively uncomplicated;with a distinct political and mythical impression.The third part introduces the generalization of family appellations in the period of classical vernacular Chinese.The numbers of generic appellations have increased to 15,and the generalization form has been greatly developed.The generalization of appellations is greatly affected by the feudal concept.The fourth part introduces the generalization of family appellations from the New Culture Movement to the reform and opening-up period.Influenced by the idea of equality,the generalization of family appellations in this period eliminates the generalization of the concept of feudalism and its impression inclined to neutral,which means great change of its modality.The fifth part introduces the generalization of family appellations after the reform and opening-up.The influence of postmodernism culture gives the generalization of family appellations the impression of postmodernism in both symbol and meaning.In the sixth part,the diachronic trajectory of the generalization of family appellations is combed,and the development trend of the generalization of family appellations is predicted.
