Academic delay refers to students' intentional delay of learning behaviors and usually accompanied by uncomfortable emotional and psychological experiences.Academic delay directly affects the learning effect and causes students' psychological distress due to failure and backwardness in learning, which will affect the students' healthy development. At present, researches on academic delay status and its influencing factors have made some achievements, but there is a lack of research on how to effectively prevent and reduce academic delay. This study selects two variables, which are closely related to academic procrastination, the external factors of family upbringing and the internal factors of self-regulation,In order to discuss in depth the relationship model and impact mechanism of the three. It provides correct and feasible guidance for educators and parents to handle students' academic delays. In this study,a total random sampling method was used to measure some junior students in four middle schools in Zhengzhou City, and 669 valid questionnaires were obtained.SPSS 21 software was used for statistical analysis of the obtained data to explore the correlation between research variables and the mediating effects of self-regulated learning on academic procrastination. The findings are as follows:First,67% of junior students are at a median or above academic delay level and have significant differences in gender, grade, and parental variables.Second,Parenting styles,self-regulated and academic delays have correlation.Third,Parental rearing can significantly predict self-regulated learning and academic delays;Self-regulated learning has a significant negative predictive effect on academic delays, which can explain the 45.7% variation in academic delays.Fourth,Self-regulated learning plays a complete mediating role in democratic parenting styles;self-regulated learning plays a partial mediating role in neglected parental parenting styles.Fifth, schools and parents themselves can improve the academic delays by enhancing the level of family education. At the same time, the positive psychological factors in the teaching practice can also directly improve the academic delay.
