This thesis takes the English published nationalized Chinese textbook Jinbu and domestic issued universal Chinese textbook Easy steps to Chinese as the research objects,through comparison and analysis,to discuss their respective advantages and disadvantages,and put forward some suggestions for the compilation and improvement of the two different types of Chinese textbooks,at the same time,provides some reference for the compilation of Chinese textbooks in the future as well.The thesis include seven parts.The first part of the introduction put forward the reasons of this research,introduced the research objects and research methods,then summarized the history and present situation in researching of Chinese textbooks for foreigners.The second part gives a detailed introduction to the two textbooks,and explains why the two textbooks are selected as the research objects.The third part compares the compilation structure and style of textbooks,concludes that JinBu is a functional textbook,which is practical and interesting,but lacks standardization,Easy Steps to Chinese is more standardized and scientific,but it is less interesting.The fourth part makes a contrastive analysis of the text,mainly from two aspects: text theme and genre,and concludes that the topics in JinBu is more extensive,the genre is richer and has the characteristics of "country-specific".The fifth part starts from the aspect of language elements,are discussed from the four parts: phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and characters.We can know that JinBu pay more attention to the Chinese characters teaching,in the selection of phonetics and grammar notes has obvious characteristics of "country-specific",the quantity of vocabulary in two textbooks are reasonable,but in each lesson is not balanced.In addition the portion of primary vocabulary are yet to be improved;the recurrence rate of text is too low,it isn't good for students to consolidate and memory,correlation between the content of each lesson should be paid attention to,and also need to improve the recurrence rate of new words.The sixth part and the seventh part analyze the selection of cultural content and illustration of the two textbooks.It is found that there are few cultural items in Easy Steps to Chinese,and the form is not as lively and interesting as JinBu.There are both many illustrations in the two textbooks.The illustration types are more in JinBu,but we should pay attention to the date of illustrations,and some illustrations in Easy Steps to Chinese are not always related to content or scientific.
