Taoism's Sexagenary-cycle Signs' Image Research And Creative Design Practice

As the native religion,Taoism has had important cultural position and influence in Chinese historical process and social development.In addition,its profound historical background and extensive audience base make Taoism culture play a significant role in research on Chinese religious beliefs and traditional cultures.The charm system is an indispensable part of Taoism culture and its image is an important symbol derived from Taoism culture.In addition,as a tool used in Taoism's activities of ceremonies,the charm has a certain functions and operations.Based on the sexagenary-cycle sign,an important components of Taoism charm system,overall images of the thesis involve a wide content of time-space-orientation,chronological record of events,the five elements(metal,wood,water,fire and earth)and god system in Taoism culture and Chinese traditional folk cultures.In the meantime,they have the functions of receiving good luck,escaping from bad luck,eliminating disasters,removing adversity,etc.In other words,the culture of sexagenary-cycle sign has had close connection with people since they were born.Good luck,bad luck and disasters people experience in life have connections with it.So,the author mainly discusses its cultural origin,historical evolution and image analysis,which will be helpful for instructing the creative design of sexagenary-cycle sign images.The thesis is made up of six chapters.Chapter I is the prologue.In Chapter II,it gives brief introduction to Taoism sign culture's historical origin and analyzes the component features of charm images through literature review and comprehensive analysis.In Chapter III,adopting the viewpoints derived from analysis and summary in Chapter II,it makes specific analysis and research on sexagenary-cycle sign,narrating sexagenary-cycle's origin,development and order respectively.Meanwhile,it discusses the relationship of other traditional cultures and images.In summary,it makes the analysis and research on the images of sexagenary-cycle signs and explores its origin,images' component features,the value of visual research.In Part IV,through researching relevant cases from home and abroad,it analyzes its research and application methods.In the meantime,it also analyzes their own merits and defects sothat they will make more progress in the following creation and design.In Part V,combining with the above information and conclusion,it implements creative design practice.
