As the concept of core competence was put forward,it is pursued by the world.International organizations and economies came up with relevant documents and listed the connotation,framework' and basic requirements of its own core competence,striving to find the best path to implement the core competence.As an important carrier in achieving the goal of education,the integration of the school curriculum with the core competence has become the main way for each country to implement the core competence.As one of the important factors that restrict the implementation of the curriculum,the textbook plays a vital role in cultivating the core literacy of the students.Singapore's education quality wins universal praise in the world and Singapore attracts the world attention due to the first ranking in science,math and reading in 2015 PISA test,which reflects the high capacity of Singapore students to face the challenges of the future in twenty-first Century.Because English plays an important role in the rapid development of economy and education in Singapore,it is necessary to study English textbook which an important material medium that carries knowledge of English.Therefore,taking Singapore's core literacy as the research background,this paper takes Singapore's primary school English textbook "My pals are here! English" as an example,exploring the embodiment of this textbook to train students' core literacy.This paper first introduces the forming background and main contents of Singapore core competence.Later this paper takes Singapore Primary School English textbook "My pals are here English!" as an example to analyze the embodiment in cultivating students' core literacy from the knowledge system,selection system,problem system and information system of this textbook,forming correspondences between different different kinds of system and students' abilities.Later this paper elaborates TextbooksS role s in cultivating students' core competence.Then this paper sums up the main features of this set of textbooks:knowledge integration;diversified text;effectiveness of design;comprehensive information knowledge.Finally,based on the current need for the implementation of core competence and the status quo of China's primary school English textbooks,four suggestions are proposed:Firstly,make English play a role in cultivating students' core competence,mainly in the construction of the foundation of language,cultural awareness,the development of thinking as well as the improvement of learning ability;Secondly,change the textbook compiling concept from"knowledge center" to "ability center";Thirdly,establishment three view of English knowledge,find deep content knowledge and interests,and realize the educational function of English subjects;Finally,emphasis on cultivating students' information literacy,and help students build the information consciousness,information the development of knowledge and information ability.
