As the development of modern medicine, there are more and more scholars and specialists all over the world devoting themselves to medical researches, involving every area of medicine. In China, there are also many experts committing themselves to the studies of medicine.Medical papers, containing the latest information about the most advanced medical technologies and authoritative researches, serve as the bridge of academic exchange of medicine. Therefore,it is essential to translate medical papers so that they can be shared and exchanged to improve the development of medicine and benefit human beings all over the world. This report is mainly based on the C-E translation of two medical papers, which focus on the studies of the clinical treatments of the children suffering from the congenital heart disease. In late May,2016,the author was entrusted by a surgeon working in the cardiac surgery department of the first hospital of Lanzhou University,to translate his two medical papers into English as the academic materials to be shared and exchanged. The features of the medical paper are usually formal in style and serious in tone.Besides,it should be clear in logic and accurate in meaning, avoiding subjective opinions and ambiguous words or expressions. In accordance with the features of the source texts, the text typology proposed by Peter Newmark is regarded as the proper translation theory to guide the translation of these two medical papers.According to the text typology, the medical paper should be the typical informative-function text, and the following two translation methods, communicative translation and semantic translation, are useful for the translation tasks of these two medical papers. The author also adopted some translation skills such as amplification, omission, conversion, division and combination in the translation process of the two medical texts. However, there are some issues unsolved, which requires the author to enrich the knowledge of medicine and improve the translation ability in the future.
