Vocabulary is the necessary part of constructing language.Without vocabulary,there is no language.According to the National English Curriculum Standard: High school students should have higher acquisition of vocabulary both in quantity and quality.High school is a critical period for English learning.However,the actual English vocabulary learning situation and teaching results are not optimistic.So,to get a better understanding of and train the vocabulary learning strategies of high school students have become a research issues for English teachers.The main purpose of this thesis is to explore the situation of the English vocabulary learning strategies used by senior high school students and how they use these strategies.Finally,making some feasible suggestions on the teaching of English vocabulary.There are three problems to be solved in this study: What do high school students think about English vocabulary learning? What is the overall situation of English vocabulary strategies used by high school students? What is the difference between liberal arts students and science students in terms of using English vocabulary learning strategies? The participants are one hundred and seventy six senior high school students from Huaibei Experimental High School.The research consists of two parts: a questionnaire and a face to face interview.By using questionnaires to understand the concept and use situation of English vocabulary learning strategies of high school students,the difference between students of liberal arts and students majored in science in terms of using English learning strategies.The author uses face to face interview to know how students use these vocabulary learning strategies.In this study,SPSS19.0 is used to calculate the data of the questionnaire,and then calculated the mean and standard deviation.Through analysis,the following conclusions are drawn: Firstly,high school students do not agree with the view that English words can be learned by rote learning.The way of learning vocabulary by using and in the context is welcomed by them.Secondly,as for the whole situation ofusing English vocabulary learning strategies,the consciousness of using English vocabulary strategies is not very strong and is in a state of low use.Finally,about the overall situation of liberal art students and science students,the average value of most vocabulary learning strategies of liberal art students is higher than that of science students.Based on the investigation,the author puts forward some feasible suggestions for high school students' English vocabulary teaching: Teachers should stimulate students' learning motivation;teachers should change the concept of vocabulary teaching;students should be encouraged to make vocabulary learning plans;students should learn to use a variety of English vocabulary learning strategies;students' ability to cooperate with others should be cultivated.In the process of learning,teachers should encourage more communication between students and students,students and teachers.
