Research On The The Current Situation Of Polish-Chinese Bilingual Dictionaries

In the recent years all over the world the Chinese language becomes more and more popular.Poland also keeps up with this increasing trend.This phenomenon make to take a closer look at reference books,that Chinese language learners might come across,especially dictionaries as these can be ranked the highest in terms of their referential status.The common believe is that dictionary provides the most reliable information,and the expectation is that dictionaries should be user-friendly.In Poland,there are now 14 dictionaries(including one online dictionary),despite that not many research papers have been written in regards to this subject.The aim of this dissertation is to collect,classify and analyse these dictionaries.This paper consists of five parts: the first on is the introduction which presents the aim,sense,scope,object and chosen method of this study.It also contains the information about previous and recent achievements of lexicography in Poland and the rest of the world – mainly the West.The next part comprises of two chapters;the first one lists and classifies all these dictionaries,while the second chapter is the analysis of the macro-and micro-structure of the above reference books,including their aim and their targeted user,their scope and overall structure,division of different senses,definition,illustrative examples,grammatical information and(cross-)reference system.The subject of the fourth chapter is the commentary of these dictionaries – their criticism and recommendations.The final fifth part is the summary where the author concludes the paper and suggests the possible directions of potential researches into Polish-Chinese bilingual dictionaries.One of the goals of this study is to provide some insight and valuable information about Polish-Chinese bilingual dictionaries topic,and make some contribution to the development of future researches in this field.
