A Study On Bible Story Translation From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

As the epitome of Western civilization,the Bible enjoys an important position in the Western world.The translation of Bible stories could help more Chinese people to understand Western cultural deposits,so as to vigorously promote the cultural exchanges between China and the Western countries,which in turn drives the development of Chinese culture.The books of Bible have been translated into various Chinese versions with uneven qualities,which negatively influences the spreading of Bible stories and cultural exchange.Therefore,it is worth noticing how to further improve the translation quality of this kind of text for the development of Chinese bible story books.From the perspective of the eco-translatology,this study explores the constraints of bible story translation,and analyzes the translation strategies and methods based on the translation process of The Children's Bible.According to the translation perspective of the eco-translatology,namely "three-dimensional transformation",the translators should make the adaptive selection from linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions.Conclusions are made as follows by the means of case study:(1)The constraints of the bible story translation lie in the linguistic and cultural factors.The former is caused by the disparate features between English and Chinese,and the latter is assumed as a result of the comprehensive effect of multiple factors,which shows a progressive relationship.(2)The translators play a significant role in connecting the source text and the target text.Specifically speaking,the translators should adopt flexible translation strategies to coordinate the ecological balance between the source language and the target language so that the degree of holistic adaption and selection of translation can be advanced.It is innovative to combine the eco-translatology with the translation practice of bible story text.The study can not only improve the quality of bible story text but also promote the cultural exchange between Chinese and Western countries.In addition,it contributes to verifying the extensive applicability of the eco-translatology in translation practices so that new ideas can be produced to further stimulate the development of the eco-translatology.
