From the Middle Tang to the Northern Sung(755-1127),Yangzhou's status in "The state finance" experienced a process of rising first and then decreasing.Emperor Sui drove the Grand Canal, and Yangzhou was located at the junction between the Yangtze River and the Grand Canal.During the period of the Middle and Late Tang, affected by the Anshi chaos, the economy of the Central Plains was languishing, and the cities of Shandong and Hebei were split. The government's finance relied on the supply of the Jianghuai economy, which become the historical background of the rise of Yangzhou.Yangzhou became the transfer hub of the central government and the Jianghuai region in the midst of the financial crisis during the Middle and Late Tang. The special status of Yangzhou's "The state finance" enabled the development of Suiyun to further promote local economic prosperity.Nanwu Yangzhou is the center of the capital and the "The state finance",but the economic development and the divided regime of the Tang have begun to decline.South Tang Yangzhou was reduced to the East, the administrative scope was reduced, and the political status and economic status all declined. The Northern Sung's government implemented the fiscal policy of "strengthening the weak branches." Local finances were suppressed, and local economic development in Yangzhou was hindered.Affected by geographical changes, the shipping conditions of the Yangzhou during the Northern Sung were not as good as those of the Tang, and their status in the games declined. After Zhengzhou emerged from Yangzhou,it quickly emerged, and Zhenzhou had better development potential and replaced Yangzhou's status in the "The state finance" by phases. The historical changes in Yangzhou from the middle of the eighth century to the beginning of the 12th century were influenced by "The state finance." The influence brought about by the Anshi disorder is accidental. However, after the adjustment of the Nanwu and Nantang,he Northern Sung,Yangzhou,no longer had a prominent position in "The state finance".The policy of "strengthening the weak branches" in the Sung tightened the local fiscal and the decline of Yangzhou was artificial.
