The advent of the digital age has given birth to a great amount of evolutionary new things,such as digital TV,the digital library and digital marketing.As such,digital-themed books come into being.This report is related to digital marketing.When it comes to digital marketing,employees must raise their digital sense as a way to keep up with the trend of the times.Nowadays,a number of English books related to digital marketing have been translated into Chinese versions and have sold well in China.However,lots of such books haven't had their Chinese versions.Given that knowledge is updated so fast that only when the high-quality Chinese-version books are released timely would make it possible for the continuous communication in China's marketing field.Digital Snse,a book around digital marketing,is coauthored by Travis Wright and Chris J·Snook.The two authors lay emphasis on how to raise digital sense of internal emploees,especially marketers,and to take advantage of digital sense to blend social business strategy,marketing technology with customer experience.This book,which was published in late 2016,doesn't have its Chinese version yet,so the translator chooses this book as the subject of the translation report in endeavor to explore how to translate those books on digital marketing topic.This report comes out of Chapter 5 and Chapter 14,and other chapters are also introduced for the sake of research.The original text is made up in large part of concise and colloquial language,with a modest number of long and difficulty sentences.According to Katharina Reiss's Theory on Text Typology,the book belongs to informative text that aims to provide useful information and state the facts,so its translation should be easy enough to understand.Parts of the original text also possess the expressive and operative function,so flexible adjustments should be made in translation.As to informative text that accounts for a large proportion in the source text,the translator mainly adopts explicitation to deal with synonyms,people and companies' names and so on.With respect to expressive text,"identifying" method is used to render proverbs and sentences with rhetorical devices.With regard to some operative text,the translator chooses recasting translation and division and other tactics in order to conform to the Chinese readers' reading habit.The translator completes the translation project with painstaking efforts in an attempt to reproduce the original writing style as much as possible and entitle the target readers to have the same reading experience as the source readers.Furthermore,it is hoped that the translation strategies and skills that are discussed in the translation practice report would be used as a source of reference for marketing-themed books with similar style.
