Compiled and published by the Ministry of Commerce,People's Republic of China,China Commerce Yearbook 2016 is an authoritative reference book with plenty of historical data and systematic records of China's commercial development,as an important composition of China's commerce-related information network.Entrusted by the editorial board of the book,the author translated the part of “China's Economic and Trade Relations with Asia and some other countries and regions.The translation report is based on the above-mentioned task of China Commerce Yearbook 2016(Excerpt)proceeding from lexical,syntactic,textual and format features.Firstly,the author illustrates the source and basic description of the translation task,analyzes the source text(ST)and describes translation preparations,such as basic features of the task,choice and analysis of parallel texts,a Guiding translation theory,choice of translation tools,quality control and reflections after translation.In the case analysis,the author analyzes linguistic features of the ST and the target text(TT)at lexical,syntactic,textual and format levels,including culturally-loaded words and expressions,shift of numbers,four-character structures,noun modifiers,category words,repetition and substitution,complicated sentences,cohesion and coherence,coordination and subordination,correct choice of tenses and other factors.In the end,the author lists the advantages and disadvantages of the translation process,and points out that the most important part of the translation is that the translation should reflect on the similarities and differences between the two cultures behind the language in terms of thinking,behavior and logic.It also provides some suggestions on how to improve the practical ability of translation in the future based on the above translation process and analysis,which reflects the translator's application of semantic and communicative translation strategies during the translation process.
