A Consecutive Interpreting Practice Report On Ford Audit Project With Guangdong Sl Electronic Technology Co.,Ltd

As China develops faster in its automobile industry than before,some big muti-national companies like Ford are stepping up to seek suppliers for auto parts.Under such international situation,the author was entrusted by the Guangdong SL Electronic Technology Company on April 15 th of 2017 to provide interpreting service in a Ford audit project as an employee.The interpreting activity lasted for five days,in which a factory inspection,a business conference and a farewell banquet were included.The conference was selected specifically and problems during this process were discussed in fourth part.Besides,some successful interpreting cases were also analyzed in this paper.This report consists of five parts.The first part has presented the task background in the social aspect as well as the profession field.Moreover,the significance of this interpreting practice is also contained in the present part.Part Two is about task description and requirements from the entrusting party.Part Three is the interpreting process which includes thorough preparations done before interpreting;the three main interpreting stages,quality control and unexpected situations;and then evaluations from all sides after interpreting.With Gile's Interpretation Equation and some interpreting methods employed,interpreting cases are analyzed in the fourth Part.Through this practice,the author finds that interpreting quality,especially when it comes to automobile industry,can be upgraded through the following aspects.First,sufficient preparation can reduce comprehension difficulties and improve interpreting quality.Second,interpreters need to apply interpreting methods flexibly,for instance,amplification,omission,conversion,note-taking and standpoint analysis to guarantee interpretation can be clearly conveyed to listeners.Third,a solid foundation of language is the basic accomplishment of an excellent interpreter.Interpreters need to continue efforts to improve language ability so that comprehension difficulties in linguistic aspect can be greatly reduced.For the author,this interpreting practice helped her with the application of theory into practice and the accumulation of some fruitful experience.The author expects more convenient opportunities to improve interpreting ability in the future and hopes this practice report can provide other interpreters with some useful experience.
