A Report On Simulated Interpretation Of The Documentary The Giant Project Ⅱ

With the rapid development of society and economy,China’s international status and say have been improved obviously.Both of this are due to the fast development of China in the past forty years.The most striking part is China’s transportation construction.If someone wants to learn more about it,watching documentary will be the direct way.In the new era,documentary production in China presents to be diversified.The production pays more attention to the broader perspective and richer content.In recent years,in order to make Chinese culture go out and tell the story of China,a large number of documentaries with Chinese characteristics have been shown on the screen and attracted world attention.People around the world turn their eyes to a new China.There is one documentary called The Giant Project II.It is a series of documentaries with high value and strong publicity.After being searched,no English version of the documentary was found.Therefore,the author adopts consecutive interpreting between Chinese and English to interpret the first two episodes of it.The interpretation will use the interpretative theory as the guidance,which can accumulate experience of documentary interpretation.The interpretative theory was formed in late 1960 s.The theory holds the view that the interpretation have three stages,namely,comprehension,deverbalization and expression.Among them,the core is “deverbalization”.“Deverbalization” means that the interpreter should express the thought and meaning which was expressed by the speaker or the author,rather than express them in the same form as the original language.This report mainly adopts specific case analysis.Through analyzing specific examples,this paper points out the problems in the process of interpretation,and puts forward some concrete methods and skills such as amplification,omission,conversion,and slitting.After identifying the practical material,the author actively searched for relevant information on documentary interpretation and classified the collected data.According to the requirements,the author worked out a schedule for the interpretation task,and predicted the problems and difficulties that may be encountered in the process of interpretation.The author completed the interpretation task by repeatedly watching the documentaries,checking the relevant information and interpreting training repeatedly.Finally,through summarizing the experience of this interpretation practice,the author put forward the important points and efforts in documentary interpretation.Through the simulated interpretation of the documentary “The Giant project II”,the author hopes to apply the interpretive theory to the documentary interpretation while enriching the development of the theory.
