A Report On The Simulated Consecutive Interpretation Of Get With The Times Under The Interpretive Theory

Get With The Times is an interview program focusing on current hot topics.It is of great importance for language learners to study a foreign language by knowing the society and culture.The theme of this interview is Race and Identity in America.The author chose this interview program as the practice material for simulated consecutive interpreting in the hope of learning more about American society and culture and improving his English.This report first introduces the task background and interpreting preparation.And then some examples are analyzed based on the Interpretive Theory.A number of interpretation methods are employed,such as addition,omission,restructuring and free translation.The author believes that the Interpreting Theory could be used effectively in consecutive interpreting.But it requires the interpreter to have a good command of two languages and background knowledge.Also a qualified interpreter should use interpreting skills and methods flexibly depending on different contexts and linguistic features.Reviews and conclusions are included in the final part of this report.The author hopes to learn precious lessons from this task and keep working hard for further study.
