On the basis of predecessors' research,this paper will use a mixed method of qualitative and quantitative methods,to carry on a complete and systematic comparative study on the professional Master degree of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.This research will answer two questions:1)Are there differences in Master's Programs in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language between the US and China?2)If yes,what are the similarities and differences and what are the pros and cons?3)What strategies and education policies can China borrow from the US?The researcher found out in this research that the Chinese universities shared more commonplace in the goals and curricula of the education in Master of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages,while the US universities had greater variety and flexibility.However,MTCSOL programs in both countries had the same problem in curriculum,which is the lack of education in Chinese and Chinese linguistics.Moreover,both countries is lacking in high-quality teachers and“master instructors" to guide students in their classes and teaching practices.In terms of program accreditation,the US has a more mature accreditation systems which allows governmental and non-governmental organizations to participate in.While in China the accreditation system is more of a "top-down" system.
