| This report is based on Chinese-English translation of “Youth Literature Translation”,which was carried out from March,2017 by Shandong Yuqiao Translation Company.100 popular science articles are selected for Chinese-English translation from some Chinese magazines,such as Window of Knowledge and Thinking and Wisdom.And the translator is in charge of the first draft of 40 articles.And these ten biological popular science articles which are all about animals and plants are selected as source text of this translation practice.In order to achieve equivalent effect of target readers,Functional Equivalence Theory by Eugene Nida is used to guide this translation practice in aspects such as vocabulary,syntax,text and style,to adopt appropriate and effective translation methods.The report consists of five parts.The first part describes the background of the task and the source text and language characteristics.The second part describes pre-translation preparations,translation process and proofreading and revision.The third part focuses on Functional Equivalence which is the guiding theory of this translation practice.The fourth part analyzes different translation methods at four levels: lexicon,syntax,and style under the guidance of the Functional Equivalence Theory.And the last part is the conclusion,which points out the insufficiency in translation,and the summary of the whole translation. |
