This report is based on the author's interpreting practice.When a delegation from the Free State,one of the nine provinces of South Africa,visited Shandong Jianzhu University on September 8,2017,the author was chosen as an interpreter.Based on the interpreting practice,this report uses interpretive theory to guide the interpreting practice and analyzes problems that occurred in the interpreting activities.In addition,some relevant interpreting strategies are summarized and further discussed.This report is composed of five chapters.In the first and second chapter,the author gives a detailed description of the task and introduces the source,place,characteristics of this interpreting practice and its requirements.In the third chapter,it refers to the introduction of conference interpretation and interpretive theory.The development and features of conference interpretation as well as the structure and framework of interpretive theory are summarized.The forth chapter is a case study,which is main section of this report,focusing on using interpretive theory to guide interpreting practice.The author summarizes several interpreting strategies and skills to illustrate the detailed usage in various situations,such as comprehension,de-verbalization and reformulation with a number of examples from the original text.The last chapter is the summary of the whole report including word materials,problems and its corresponding tactics.This report sheds light on interpreting strategies based on interpretive theory,which are useful and valuable for interpreters.Hopefully,it can contribute to current interpreting theories and practice.
