This is a translation project report on the fourth chapter: Principals and School Resource Officers' Perspectives on Bullying of Bullying in School: Perspectives from School Staff,Students,and Parents and this chapter is written by Laura Trujillo-Jenks and Kenneth Kenks.The selected chapter mainly discusses how principals and school resource officers stop school bullying.According to Newmark's text typology,the original text features information function.Therefore,in the process of translation,the translator has taken Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory as a guide.During the translation,the translator was confronted with two main difficulties which are lexicons and sentences.Difficulties in the lexical level are featured by abstract nouns and adverbs,and in syntactic level,they are passive sentences and adverbial clauses.Guided by the communicative translation theory,and instead of taking the word-for-word and sentence-for-sentence translation,the translator has adopted amplification,conversion,inversion and voice shift,trying to keep the faithfulness of the original text and emphasize the expressiveness of the target language and transfer the information in a successful way.At the end of the report,the translator summarizes the lessons learned in the project,aiming to increase experience in translating informative texts.
