A Practice Report On The Escort Interpreting Of A Visit To Dandong

This report is based on an escort interpreting practice.The author,as an interpreter,accompanied an visitor from Australia to have a tour around some well-known scenic spots in Dandong City,Liaoning Province to experience the customs there,in which the author gained a lot of experience and reflections.This report consists of three chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the context and task requirements of the interpreting practice.The second chapter provides detailed description of how the author completed the task as an escort interpreter.The third chapter analyzes and summarizes the major problems encountered during the interpreting process.On the basis of the analyzing,the author raised solutions accordingly.Through reflections,the author found the main problems are misinterpreting and information loss.Utilizing the interpreting theory,the author provided some coping strategies regarding each of the problems,which includes improving language proficiency,being full aware of the unique characteristics of the source language and target language,increasing concentration and memory,and reducing anxieties involved in this task,etc.Though there exists some other questions scattered in this report,the author still hopes to promote his interpreting ability via this summary and provide a reference for other interpreters...
