Practical Report On Interpreting In Changchun Shifa Automobile Accessory Co. Ltd.

This is a practical report on the interpreting task conducted by the author in Changchun Shifa Automobile Accessory Co. Ltd. from May 2nd to 3rd, 2015. The task has two procedures, which includes a conference interpreting for the Company’s profile from Chinese to English and an escort interpreting for an evaluation tour on its workshop management. In the paper, with the task as the central study, the author reviews the whole interpreting process, analyzes its major problems and offers some strategies so as to improve her self-learning ability and inspire other interpreting learners in interpreting practices.The paper is composed of three sections: Chapter One is a task description,which generalizes the basic information of the Company and the visiting German expert, describes its features of the German accent involvement and noisy interpreting environment as well as lists its requirements that the author should be confident and speak clear and loud enough to be heard. Chapter Two, the interpreting process,introduces interpreting preparation for translation of the Company’s profile and for terminology. It also describes the author’s interpreting performance and offers its assessments from clients and the author’s self-evaluation. Chapter Three, the major part of the paper, analyzes its problems which are mainly misinterpretation,information loss and impolite expression. Reasons to them are mainly inefficient knowledge on business knowledge and terminology, retarded listening comprehension on the English of German accent in a boisterous working site and a feeble stress management. Lastly, solutions to them are offered, including a comprehensive preparation both in the long and short term even on the working site; improvement of listening comprehension especially in English materials of varied accents as well as good stress management. This chapter provides other advice on interpreting training.Through reviewing and analyzing this task, the author expects to offer lessons to herself and other interpreting learners in interpreting practices and training.
