As globalization gains further momentum,boundaries among countries seem to disappear.People's desire to experience different sights and cultures beyond their own countries are becoming stronger and stronger.Therefore,cross-border tourism has gained more and more popularity.However,because language barriers exist between different languages,interpreters are needed to remove those barriers so as to facilitate smooth communication between people from different cultural backgrounds.As a typical cross-cultural communicative activity,guide interpreting is tourist-oriented,and characterized by informative and culture-specific expressions.Interpreters may be confronted with all sorts of difficulties in the process of interpreting practice because there are all sorts of differences between Chinese and English.This report focuses on analyzing difficulties the author encountered during her guide interpreting practice in Chen Clan Academy,and proposing tactics for overcoming these difficulties according to Skopos Theory.In this guide interpreting task,the author acts as a guide interpreter.This report introduces briefly the interpreting task,tourist information and task requirement,presents pre-task preparation including theoretical preparation and practical preparation,and elaborates the on-site interpreting process.On the basis of Skopos theory,this report analyzes the difficulties encountered in this case,puts forward tactics such as transliteration plus annotation,amplification,paraphrasing and omission and illustrates these tactics with concrete examples.This report summarizes the author's strength and weakness in guide interpreting from the task,and proposes several suggestions in terms of practicing interpreting in the hope of providing references for other guide interpreting learners.
