Professor Lin Shaoyang of the Institute of Comprehensive Cultural Studies at the University of Tokyo held a lecture entitled“The Relationship between the Origin of Meiji Japanese Art History and Indian Studies in Europe”at the College of Foreign Languages of Jilin University on September 13th,2017.The author conducted a Chinese-English simultaneous interpretation of the lecture on spot.In order to find out,analyze and cope with the deficiencies in the interpreting performance,the author recorded the interpreting process and transcribed the recording into texts after the interpreting task and wrote this reflective practice report.In this report,first of all,the author introduces the background and describes the requirements of this simultaneous interpretation task.Secondly,the author introduces the interpreting process,including task preparation,task implementation,and task evaluation.Finally,the author summarizes three main types of problems in the practice:misinterpreting,information loss and redundancy.Through analysis,the author puts forward countermeasures accordingly to the three problems:free translation and sufficient preparation,anticipation and memory training and deverbalization.This simultaneous interpretation practice is an important practice experience for the author,which enables the author to realize the deficiencies of her on-site interpreting.Hopefully,this report can provide some references for future study and practice,especially for the interpreting related to art.
