| This simulated interpretation practice is based on the lecture “Current Situation and Trend of Asian Studies in North America” delivered by Professor Daniel Fried from University of Alberta in the Chinese Language Department of Jilin University.The speaker,Professor Daniel Fried,who had followed the famous sinologist Stephen Owen,is now the most distinguished Chinese and western literature criticism scholars in North America.In this lecture,the current situation and trend of Asian studies in North America are outlined,while the cultural differences between the East and the West and its causes are emphatically illustrated.In academic exchanges,language is the main approach to obtain information,and interpretation plays a significant role in information exchanges.High quality output of interpreting can not only enhance the effectiveness of interaction,but also guarantee smooth international communication.Based on this practice,the author intends to accumulate experience in simultaneous interpreting and sum up common principles for lecture interpreting.At the same time,the author applies the Interpretive Theory and the Effort Models to handle the information loss and misinterpreting which are commonly found in interpreting learners.Adjustment and reformulation are necessary to dissolve logic confusion in interpretation.Only through applying interpreting theories properly,grasping substantial of the source language,can the effective language transformation be achieved and a high quality SI task be conducted. |
