This report is based on the mock simultaneous interpretation practice on Mental Health Panel held at Union Oxford in 2016.After the analysis of the source corpus and the target language throughout the practice, this report mainly focuses on how to achieve coherence of target language in an impromptu speech during a simultaneous interpretation process. The main feature of this source corpus lies in the speakers' unscripted impromptu speech throughout the whole panel, whose problems are embodied in information loss, improper usage of deixis and information redundancy. In this report, the loss of information can be specified as the implicitization of logical relation and the loss of resumptive components, while the improper usage of deixis is composed of the vague reference of person deixis and space deixis.Interpretation strategies including the explicitation of logical relation and the supplement of resumptive components are feasible to fix the problems of loss information, while the strategy of explicitation was also applied to achieve the accuracy of reference to the deixis in the context. When it comes to the information redundancy, tactics of omitting and paraphrasing are exerted to guarantee the fluency, authentication, accuracy and eventually achieve the coherence of target language. This practice report proposes feasible interpretation strategies on how to achieve the coherence of target language in simultaneous interpretation of an impromptu speech. The experience in this paper will hopefully be referential for other interpreters while tackling the corpus with similar features in the future.
