The translation report takes the first three sections of Chapter Eight of Environment and the Selection of Technology:the Agrotechnical Historical Geography of Western China during the Qing Dynasty as the source text This book is a masterpiece of Professor Xiao Zhenghong,a professor from the School of History and Culture,Shaanxi Normal University,which is mainly composed of eight chapters and is one of the Chinese Academic Translation Projects.In this book,Professor Xiao takes the agro-technical geography in western regions as the object of research and explores important theoretical issues in depth by applying comprehensively the methods of several disciplines such as historical geography,agronomy,economics and other disciplines,which opens up a new field of historical geography research.This book is an academic work with rigorous logic written in formal Chinese.In the book,there are a lot of professional terms and classical Chinese cited from Chinese classics.This report is on the basis of the theory of Eco-translatology,which is put forward by Professor Hu Gengshen.There are five parts in the report.Part one is the introduction to the translation project.Part two is the description of the translation process,including the preparation and description of the translation process and post-translation and so on.Part three is the illustration of Eco-translatology,including the background,core concepts,translational principle and methods and its applicability.Part four is the analysis of the translation of book titles,cultural-loaded words and long sentences and quotations from linguistic,cultural and communicative dimensions under the guidance of Eco-translatology with specific examples,which is the main body of the translation report.Part five is the conclusion,including the summary of the translator's understanding,experience gained from the task and some of problems that the translator has not been solved.Through the translation report,the translator aims to solve the problems encountered in the process of translation of academic works under the guidance of Eco-translatology.Thus,the translator sums up and perfects her translation strategies.It is hoped that the target text can be beneficial to the research of relevant areas.
