As a citizen of the 21st century in China,it's more important for us to learn English well.It's necessary for every one nowadays.It has become increasingly a trend to learn English in an early age in China,It' s the main focuse in teaching to guide English learners independently and simulate their motivation for learning.It's also important to improve their comprehensive language skills.But,according to some research,there are many problems in learning English.Specially in reading English,many students feel difficult in recognizing and reading new words.It' s a very difficult task for them to memorize the words even teacher teaches for many times.Which fact influences students'interests in English?If they want to read some text,passage,stories,it will be more difficult.The AR tries to find a effective method for pupils to recognize and read words through many research and analysis.Phonics instruction is a new English learning strategy.It focuses on building connection between letters and their sounds.By applying Phonics Instruction in Chinese primary school,we find learners can recognize,read and spell the words spontaneously once they grasp the phonetic rules of it.And they will naturally remember all the words which share the same rule.What's more,phonics instruction helps to build up a harmonious classroom environment and can make learning more interesting.Facts proved that phonics is an effective method in recognizing and reading words.The AR has been designed for this research,and the participants were sixth eight second grader from affiliated elementary school in Xi'an.This AR lasted 28 weeks.The main content of the AR are whether phonics can improve pupils' English learning of recognizing and reading?Whether phonics can improve pupils' English learning interests?What phonics methods can be used in English teaching in elementary?The methods in the thesis are interview,investigation.By compared the result of pre-investigation with that of post-investigation,it has been discovered that phonic can simulates students'motivation for English learning and improve their interests in English.By compared of the result of pre-test with that of post-test,the result of final oral exam in the first term with that of final oral exam in the second term,it has been discovered that learners have improved greatly in their recognizing and reading ability.
