English reading teaching is an important part of English teaching system.The level of English reading ability largely determines the level of students' English learning.Primary school is the initial stage of English learning,but also lay the foundation of the stage.As a method of reading teaching,phonics is widely concerned and advocated for its important role in improving students' English reading ability.This study reviews relevant literature and analyzes academic trends and research topics,this study found that the study of phonics in China has three characteristics: it was developed late,but it is increasingly recognized;Most of the teaching experiments are about the verification of the effectiveness of phonics,more and more attention is paid to the research of teaching strategy.There are many researches on vocabulary teaching,pronunciation teaching and comprehensive teaching,but the researches on English reading teaching in primary schools are not enough.In view of this,the researchers rely on second language acquisition theory,constructivism theory,learning transfer theory and the reading ability development theory as the backing,to Q,F primary school of 256 students and Q,36 primary school English teacher carries on the preliminary questionnaire,to eight students and six F elementary school teachers one-on-one in-depth interviews,then analyzes of classroom observation of teaching case,find out the existing problems and worth learning.In addition,the content of phonics in the most widely used PEP textbooks is sorted out and analyzed,so as to better put forward the strategy of using phonics to implement reading teaching.Based on the results of the survey,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the application of phonics in English reading teaching in primary schools.Teachers:Insufficient attention to students' English reading ability;Lack of in-depth understanding of PEP textbooks and phonics textbooks;The understanding of phonics is not comprehensive;The application of phonics in reading teaching is unreasonable.Students:Lack of independent reading methods;Lack of understanding of semantics;Phoneme awareness is relatively weak;Difficulty remembering phonological correspondence and spelling rules.The researchers conduct attributional analysis of the existing problems.School factor:the status of English subject is not valued;English teaching and research activity become a mere formality;English teaching resource are relatively scarce.Teacher factor:there is deviation in teaching concept;Not good at stud-ying textbooks;Other factors such as job burnout.Student factors:failure to effectively part-icipate in reading teaching activities;Lack of understandable English input;The quality of memory itself.By analyzing the problems and their causes,the researcher tries to put forward feasible Suggestions to solve the problems.Improve the level of reading teaching by using phonics;Pay attention to phonics method in each stage of reading teaching orderly operation;Integrating the phonics method and PEP textbooks in various ways to carry out reading teaching;Use relevant teaching materials and AIDS to improve reading ability.In the hope that frontline teachers can have a deeper understanding of the use of phonics to improve the quality of English teaching in primary schools.
