With the acceleration on the progress of globalization,a large number of Chinese tea oil enterprises are carrying out cross-border trade in recent years.In order to expand the promotion of products,companies have already added an English-version profile to their corporate websites and product packaging.This bilingual introduction of tea oil is an important medium to convey Chinese and foreign cultures and a bridge to communicate between producers and consumers.A translation of tea oil introduction with high quality provides accurately detailed product information,and promotes the sale of tea oil as well,so as to establish a good brand image for the company.Therefore,the translation of tea oil introduction is attached more importance.However,on the current translation of such texts,because of the lack of translation standards,the translation of this kind of text has many defects,such as poor comprehension and bad readability.So it is necessary to explore and study the translation strategies and methods that can be employed for the translation of such texts.As the publicity material of Hunan Ririlian Camellia Oil Limited Company,the introduction of tea oil mainly describes the various health care,cosmetic and medicinal functions of camellia oil,the food history and culture of the using of tea oil in local place and the advantages of the company in developing the tea oil industry.This original material can be classified as application-oriented text with the combination of informative text features and vocative text features,mainly providing the public with information and influencing he or she.To express the original information precisely,to make the translation understood and accepted by the target readers so as to achieve the intended purpose of the translation,a summary of the translation activities of the source text is made,based on the guidance of Skopos theory.To achieve the purpose of cross-cultural communication,Skopos translation theory advocates that the translation,loyalty to the original,is required to accurately communicate the original information and accord with the reader's reading habits.In this translation practice report,after the introduction of the background of the project,the significance of the project,the characteristics of the text and the theory of translation guidance,this report describes the translation process by presenting the pre-translation work,the translation process and post-translation review.Then,from the translation of the vocabulary and sentence,combined with the guiding ideology of Skopos theory,the cases analysis are made on the key and difficult points of translation,such as four-character Chinese characters,medical terminology,imperative sentences,non-subjective sentences,active and passive sentences,and classical Chinese sentence patterns.Moreover,to achieve the communicative function and purpose of translation,what translation strategies and methods should be used in the process of translation is discussed in the report.Finally,the experience and shortcomings of this translation practice are concluded.Through the analysis and summary of this translation activity,this report tries to explore the methods and strategies for the introduction of tea oil translation,hoping to serve as an introductory reference for the translation of tea oil text in China and providing some reference for the Chinese-English translation of documentary text.
