With the development of cultural construction in Hainan international tourism destination, as a part of the culture of Hainan, the culture of Li areas has also made some achievements. The source text the Survey of Fanxiang Village is a valuable article for the study of Li culture, so it is employed as the basis of the discussion about Chinese-English translation in this translation report. The report adopts the Skopos Theory as the theoretical foundation for my translation practice, and the Text Classification proposed by Reiss as the base to analyze the source text. The Skopos Theory has been widely used in a variety of translation studies. It suggests that the translated text should be liberated from the form and structure of the source text, and at the same time, it should be faithful in content and meaning to the source text to great degree. During the process of translation, translators should pay more attention to the purpose of translation. According to some scholars, the theory does play a guiding role in translating practical materials such as tourism text.In my translation report, firstly, I have made a detailed literature review with regard to the application of the Skopos Theory to translating tourism texts. Secondly, I have discussed the significance and purpose of my report. Thirdly, I have analyzed the source text from the perspectives of text types, linguistic style and the features of the Li culture. Fourthly, I have summarized the difficulties with translating and discussed the factors which affect C-E translation of tourism texts. The factors involve the differences in linguistic expression and cultural default caused by cultural diversities. Finally, I have discussed how translation strategies and techniques such as transliteration, omission, amplification, paraphrase, free translation and literal translation are used for C-E translation of tourism texts, so as to promote the distinctive Li culture to the target language readers.
