The Study Of Light Verb Movement In Agentive Object Constructions

As the SOV type language,we think the word order like “agent+verb+object” is the regular order in Chinese language.Except for the general case,there are also unconventional semantic structures that agent appearing after the verb occurs in Chinese.This type of structure is generally considered to be an unconventional projection of the subject and object position.Thus,a large number of objects are generated in the language structure,we also call them agentive object constructions.So far,most of the studies on the object sentences have focused on pragmatics,semantics and functional linguistics,but few involving theories of generative linguistics.In terms of the study on generating mechanism of the agentive object constructions,there is the cognitive "mashup" and the generative "shift method”,and the shift method here includes a noun shift and a verb shift.We believe that there is a broad prospect for the shift analysis of the core words triggered by light verbs.The theory of light verbs is a relatively young theory which has attracted much attention in generative linguistics field in recent years,and it was universally acknowledged.This theory has been used by many scholars to explain the irregular syntactic phenomenon and its generation mechanism in various languages.In this paper,the author tries to make an explanation on the acquisition of the subject matter in the sentence,the generating mechanism of the object sentence and the semantic expression of the agentive object constructions.The rationality of using light verb theory to analyze the sentence is also been discussed in this paper.The paper is composed of three parts,introduction,main text and conclusion.The first part is the introduction.In this part,the author summarizes the research of the agentive object constructions,and analyzes the development context of the light verb theory,and gives an overview of the research on the application of light verb theory in Chinese syntactic phenomena.This part tries to present the research idea,scope,innovation point and logical structure of this paper.The second part is the main text,which was divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,the author describes and analyzes the whole picture of the agentive object constructions,especially analyzes the object,place,time,tools,four types of semantic roles of subject.In the second chapter,the author has analyzed the reason from the theoretical source of light verbs why the light verbs could trigger a core verb to shifte and merge with them,and the mechanism of how subject get its thematic role in agentive object constructions and the generation mechanism of agentive object constructions are also been discussed.In the third chapter,the author uses the light verb theory to analyze the semantic expression of the object sentence.The economy of using the light verb and the controversy in the current research stage are also been included in this chapter.The third part is the conclusion.This part mainly summarized the content and the structure of this research,and the significance and value of the light verb theory in the research of Chinese syntactic phenomena.In the end,the author made an expectation on the light verb theory using in Chinese study.
