High school students are experiencing rapid physical and mental development.They faced with complex psychological conflicts and problems but lacking of solutions to solving them.The increasing schoolwork pressure and various physiological changes make it easy for High school students to feel alienated from their surroundings or even to themselves.This sense of alienation is called alienation.Family is the most important environment for individual's growth.Family support for individual's growth is called family function.Family function is of great significance for individual's physical and mental health.Self-esteem is an evaluation part of self-concept in the individual's self-concept.This study incorporates self-esteem to establish an model to examine the mediated effect of self-esteem on the impact of students' family function on alienation.Then providing targeted advice for families,society,schools and themselves to improve their sense of alienation.The study used the Adolescent alienation questionnaires,Family function rating scales,and Self-esteem questionnaires to investigate an effective questionnaire survey on 669 High school students.And used the independent sample t-tests,one-way analysis of variance,correlation analysis,and regression analysis to analyze the data.To explore he status of High school students' alienation,family function and self-esteem,and explore relationship between them.The results of the study are as follows:(1)The general degree of alienation among high school students is at a medium level,the degree of social alienation is the highest,and the degree of alienation is the lowest.The degree of adolescents' sense of alienation differs in grade-level variables,and the degree of alienation of grade 2 students is significantly higher than that of grade 1 and grade 3 students;The day students' degree of social alienation are significantly higher than boarding students.(2)High school students' self-esteem is at an upper-middle level.The levels of self-esteem of grade1 and 3 students are significantly higher than those of grade 2 students.The day students' self-esteem level are significantly higher than boarding students.(3)Adolescents' family functions are better in terms of roles,emotional reactions,emotional involvement,and behavioral control;while problem solving,communication,are poor and general functions is at average level.The Grade 2 students' function of emotional reactions are better than those in other grades.The only child families' function of emotional reactions are better than those children in not-only child families.Girls' function of emotional involvement are better than boys.The day students' function of behavioral control are better than boarding students.(4)There is a significant negative correlation between each dimension of the students' family function and the sense of alienation and total score,and there is a significant positive correlation with the level of individual self-esteem.There is a significant negative correlation between overall alienation and self-esteem in each dimension of alienation.(5)There is a partial mediating effect between students ' self-esteem and each dimension of family function and general alienation.
