With the development of western philosophy, the critique of metaphysics, especially the theory of conformity, has become more and more intense, and the philosophical situation has become increasingly difficult. It is to continue to find a hard-to-reduce goal to solve the eternal truth once and for all,or to live in the moment and face the matter itself, which has become the most important issue that contemporary Western philosophers must complete.Rorty is one of the most radical representatives of the postmodernists. His concept of truth is generally classified as relativism and ignored by people.Because in Rorty's theory of truth, everything no longer has an absolutely objective basis.Truth is no longer absolutely authoritative. The knowledge, ideas, and truths we have acquired are only generated from dialogues and exchanges of group beliefs and are just words of praise for the way we communicate. As long as they can communicate reasonably, having coherence can be regarded as knowledge. This article uses history as a clue to examine Rorty's view of cooperative truth.First, from the historical origin of the concept of truth, early skepticism questions the existence of truth.Hume's skepticism about causation links also has this view.In modern times,Dewey,Wittgenstein, and others opposed the absolute truth in different aspects. It is precisely on the basis of the predecessors that Rorty has questioned the traditional concept of truth, and then criticized and abandoned. He believes that our understanding can't cross the boundary between the subject and the object to understand the reality of abstraction. The truth theory of the theory of conformity is difficult to have.Persuasive.Only the theory of convention can avoid deliberate pursuit of truth.Second, after Rorty's mirror analysis of traditional philosophy,he regards traditional philosophy as a kind of "capital truth," and treats synergistic truth as a "lower case of truth."Capital truth seeks objective reality.Absolute and lower-case truths oppose the absoluteness of truth and replace it with synergy. Therefore,Rorty advocates a lower-case view of truth. The lower-case view of truth holds that if we believe that our current belief is false,it means that someone can propose a more perfect belief that is recognized by the majority.Rorty's theory of cooperative truth holds that as long as this concept can make people's current situation better and better,so long as the members of the community reach a consensus through dialogue and negotiation, that is the truth. Therefore,Rorty believes that it is necessary to use synergy instead of objectivity.Truth is nothing more than a means of expressing consensus. It is nothing more than a group of praised vocabularies, all of which are alternative descriptions that are replaced by new and more reasonable words. Therefore,it is a reasonable description accepted by people under accidental time and historical circumstances. In the end,Rorty's view of cooperative truth makes the truth have many relativity and post-modernity,that is,Rorty's own post-philosophical culture. He believes that synergistic truth does not focus on the objective truths that are above and above, but should be more.Pay attention to reality and pay attention to people. Therefore, this article believes that Rorty's view of cooperative truth is very important to philosophy itself,to the truth itself, and to the question of language itself. It is an important issue discussed by our philosophy today. It should not be artificially divided into the camp of relativism. His ideas of pragmatism such as pragmatism, language, and metaphor are all worthy of our exploration.
