The character image in the novel is the concentrated embodiment of the author's ideology and aesthetic value.As a main character image,the child image plays an important role in the study of the novel.This paper focuses on the image of children in the classical Chinese short stories during Kangxi and Qianlong periods,attempts to classify their images,analyzes the characteristics of various types,and then probes into their artistic function and origin.This paper focuses on the image of children in the classical Chinese short stories during Kangxi and Qianlong periods,attempts to classify their images,analyzes the characteristics of various types,and then probes into their artistic function and origin.The first chapter is an introduction to the image of children in ancient Chinese classical short stories.The development and evolution of children's images from the pre-Qin period to the Qing Dynasty are systematically summarized and introduced,laying the groundwork for the concrete discussion below.The second chapter classifies the images of children in the classical short stories of Kangxi and Qianlong periods and analyzes the characteristics of each type.They are divided into three basic types:The images of children with filial piety,wisdom and bravery,the images of children with slavery and misery,and the images of children with religious.The images of filial piety,wisdom and bravery include filial piety of parents and elder brother,talented children and brave and industrious shepherd children.The images of children with slavery and misery include the enslaved child,the malformed molestation children and the image of a child dying prematurely,and the religious children mainly include the image of Taoist and Buddha child.The third chapter mainly elaborates the artistic function of children's image,which is embodied in two aspects: the symbolic role of props in texts and the role of moral education in social functions.Among them,the role of props and symbols refers to the role of children's images in the text to promote the development of the story plot,deepen the theme of the novel or foil other characters' image.The role of moral education refers to the role of children's image in inheriting the concept of filial piety,restraining and criticizing social morality.The fourth chapter explores the origin of children's image from two aspects of social reality and consciousness.Including the decline of patriarchal system,the prosperity of commercial economic activities and the soaking of the imperial examination system,and the awakening of the idea of "juvenile standard",and the embodiment of the literati's consciousness of suffering.The conclusion part summarizes the ideas of this paper,so that future generations can better study the social status,survival and living conditions of the children during Kangxi and Qianlong periods.The author also tries to provide some reference for the research of the beginning and development in contemporary children's literature.
