The relationship between emotion and autonomic nervous system(ANS)has been a focus in the field of psychology. In recent years, virtual reality(VR)technology has been widely applied in the field of psychology. At present,Virtual Reality(VR)has been more applied in the field of psychotherapy, and it is lack of the application of virtual reality technology in emotion and autonomic nervous reaction.Therefore,120 college students were recruited as subjects, using of virtual reality technology to present the film, and three experiments were conducted to study the characteristics of the autonomic nervous reaction of negative emotions in virtual reality. The results were as follows:Experiment 1: Investigating that different emotions caused different nervous reactions in the virtual reality situation. There are differences in horror films and neutral videos in emotion and autonomic nervous reaction: the horror films effectively induce fear, tension and anxiety in virtual reality, the neutral film effectively induce calm and relaxed;respiratory responses(RR),heart rate(HR),electrodermal activity(EDA)in horror films is significantly higher than that of neutral films, there are significantly correlation between emotion and autonomic nervous reactions, and the more increased in tension, fear, the more respiratory rate, heart rate, electrodermal activity increased significantly, while in the relaxed and calm states, respiratory rate, heart rate, electrodermal activity decreased significantly.Experiment 2: Using fear film as material, watching the film in the VR or NVR,investigating the effect of the immersion of virtual reality on emotion and autonomic nervous reaction. We found that immersion in virtual reality can promote different autonomic nervous activities.Compared with the mobile phone viewing scenarios, the reality of virtual reality is more intense. There are more intense nervousness, fear and anxiety, and heart rate changes are also more significant.Cutting the fear film to two sections: assassination part and non-assassination part, further found that, the situation of virtual reality and the use of mobile phone to watch the fear film, subjects were immersed in the film, and the virtual reality environment were more interactive.Compared to the NVR situation, heart rate and electrodermal activity were more active;watching the assassination section, electrodermal activity is more intense, and in the non-assassination of section, heart rate in NVR was significantly increased.Experiment 3: Appling the virtual reality technology to relax film and explore relaxation effect. The relaxation of movie in virtual reality has some relaxing effect on the emotional induction and physiological changes of fear films, which can reduce anxiety effectively. In the two situations, the changes of skin electrical activity were more significant, and had been at a higher level. The heart rate of the mobile viewing situation was significantly lower.
