| In September 2017,Professor Lin Shaoyang from Tokyo University,held an academic seminar entitled “Natsume Soseki and ‘Literature’ of the Chinese Character Circle” in Jilin University.Several foreign friends from Seminar for Education Officials from Developing Countries hosted by Jilin University attended this lecture.To strengthen cultural exchanges,promote cultural communication and help the education officials better understand the lecture,the author acted as a simultaneous interpreter transferring the language from Chinese to English after getting permission of Professor Lin.After the lecture,the author transcribed the recordings into texts and wrote this practice report.In this report,the first part is a brief introduction of the interpreting task with task background and requirements.The second part describes the interpreting process,including preparations of background information and relevant glossary,overview of the on-site interpreting and post-interpreting assessment from the audience and the author herself.The third part summarizes three kinds of problems,namely,misinterpreting,disordered interpretation and information loss in this practice.On the basis of the summary and analysis,the author puts forward countermeasures to the three problems: free translation,information restructuring and deverbalization.The author also finds that a lot of emergency in the process may affect the quality of the interpretation.However,the interpreter can make efforts to learn relevant interpretation theories and improve their reaction abilities in the future interpreting practice.At the same time,the author hopes this report can provide other interpreters with reference and suggestions. |
