Along with the globalization in China, the international communication becomes increasingly popular.Interview as a crucial way of communication has aroused public attention in recent years,so the interview interpreting plays an important role in the field. However, the researches on bilingual interview interpreting are not too much.Redundancy and noise are the common phenomena in daily communication and information transmission, which are common in the interview interpreting. But how redundancy and noise are handled is always overlooked in the communicative context. Therefore,it is significant to deal with redundancy and noise flexibly to interpret what the speaker said in the interview interpreting.Verschueren(1987),a Belgian scholar, proposed Adaptation Theory in pragmatics at first. Then, the theory was introduced and applied in other fields including translation and interpreting.According to Adaptation Theory, the interpreter should interpret on the basis of the physical, mental and social world of utters' choice making. The author, treating the English-Chinese consecutive interpreting as the subject, explores the interpreting methods and techniques to handle the redundancy and noise in the interview interpreting within the theoretical framework of Adaptation Theory. The report shows the simulated interpreting process selecting YANG LAN ONE ON ONE G20 Special Series English interviews as materials, and explores the common classifications of redundancy and noise in the interview interpreting with the combination of materials.Furthermore, the author reflects problems in the interpreting practice and summarizes the interpreting methods and techniques to handle the redundancy and noise. The author finished the simulated interpreting practice in September 25,2017.It lasted about 110 minutes in total. In order to represent the interviews, the author interpreted on the basis of the videos and invited professional professors and volunteers as the audience to make post-interpreting evaluations.Through 'research and analysis, the author finds there are some problems on handling the redundancy and noise, such as the loss of necessary redundant information, redundant interpretation with errors and words that are disordered.Through interpreting practice and case analysis, the author discovers the redundancy and noise are mainly caused by various reasons including the characteristics of English, the syntactic differences between English and Chinese, the semantic repetition in source language, the needs of communicative context, interpreters' mental states, live environment, cultural differences and etc.In addition, the author studies interpreting methods and techniques to handle different redundancy and noise. The interpreter flexibly uses literal interpreting and free interpreting,as well as interpreting techniques including omission, addition and reorganization,to cope with various redundancies. Moreover, external noise and semantic noise are overcome by methods, such as omission and completing the structure of source language. The internal noise can be avoided through the adjustment of mental state and breath. The use of these methods and techniques is beneficial for the audience to clarify the interpretation and better understand the information in source language, the physical, mental and social world of the utters.Due to the limited interpreting experience of the author, there are still many limitations in the report. At the end of this report, some individual suggestions are proposed for further study in the future.
