Interpreters need to deliver accurate and efficient information during consecutive interpretation.A qualified interpreter shall be capable of interpreting a speech with a concise target language as quickly as possible.However,the author of this thesis has found the problem of over redundancy in her interpreting.This thesis is based on the International Order and American Power case study.Referring to previous studies on interpretation redundancy and over redundancy and the author's own experience in learning and practicing interpreting,the author concludes three types of over redundancy in interpreting,including adding meaningless words into sentences,repeating the same or similar words or phrases and using redundant structures of sentences.The author concludes three causes of such over redundancy and they are related to interpreter's abilities of English listening and understanding,methods of taking notes and habitual expression.At end of the thesis,the author suggests interprets troubled with similar problems to reinforce English listening,highlight logic structures of note-taking and improve Chinese expression,hoping these will help learners to further polish their skills and make their language more concise and accurate.
