In 2012,as the first Chinese writer of Nobel Prize in literature in history,Mo Yan's works were pushed on the wave of the times once again.As an excellent litterateur,the application of colors is a highlight of Mo Yan's novels.He can always grasp the color descriptions accurately in his novels and reflect profound literary connotation and ideological implication in simple color words.The color words in Mo Yan's novels are not only the inheritance of traditional culture connotation but also the extraordinary application which breaks the rules.The extraordinary application breaks away from the honest description of things and absorbs Mo Yan's unique comprehension and feeling.Thus it generates the effect of defamiliarization and creates a colorful emotional world for the readers.This thesis attempts to set the color description which used in Mo Yan's novels as the breakthrough point.The first part summarizes the expressive forms of the color description in Mo Yan's novels through intensive textual reading.The second part focuses on detailed aesthetic interpretation of the color application in Mo Yan's representative novels and applies chromatic and psychological knowledge to discuss expressive effect and value implication of different colors.The last part generalizes the originality of Mo Yan's application of colors and analyzes the causes of Mo Yan' color application wit his personal experience,life background and personality and thus gets access to peculiar personal world of Mo Yan.
