Based on my translation practice in Beijing Trans-plus Translation Co.,Ltd,this thesis analyzes the translation of the monograph related to OWT(offshore wind turbine)towers. The tower is part of the support structure(SST)and is considered as one of the key components for wind turbines.Besides, the overall project cost can reduce effectively by optimizing the tower and substructure configurations. The project presents a gallery of tower configurations, the main standards of reference for design and certification and the typical process used to determine structural loads. Therefore, translating the text is helpful to provide the audience with information about the wind turbine tower systematically and professionally.During the translation,I selected functional theory as guidance with the aim to reproduce the textual information to the target readers and to make the language fluent as well as comply with Chinese grammar rules. This thesis records the whole process of completing my translation project in detail, including pre-translation preparation, first translation and proofreading. For this project, delivering professional information to target readers is the primary consideration since the source text is Sci-tech English.Based on my analysis of source text,I defined functional equivalence theory as the guiding theory of practice. Also,I discussed encountered difficulties and related solutions. This thesis is divided into four parts.Chapter one introduces the translation project and the thesis;Chapter two presents the translation task, including text background, task requirements and text features;Chapter three describes translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation difficulties and solutions in the practice as wall as proofreading;Chapter four concludes the experience of the translation practice and my backwards which need improving in the future.
