This is a translation report on Choice or Chance:Understanding Your Locus of Control and Why It Matters,a book written by Stephen Nowicki and published by Prometheus Books in May,2016.Centered on LOC(Locus of Control,a concept of great significance in modern psychology),it has four major parts including ten chapters in total.By explaining the definition,development history and the application of LOC,the author tries to show readers the way to recognize between Internal and External behaviors and then identify their own behaviors in order to make a balance between Internality and Externality,and eventually deal with the challenges in daily life successfully.This translation report aims at representing the views of the author and study results of LOC researchers,introducing the concept of LOC to more of the Chinese readers.This translation exercise is mainly under the guidance of Functional Equivalence,using various techniques and strategies,such as addition,omission,division and so on,to achieve the equivalence in content and form and make the translation idiomatic in Chinese language.Divided into five chapters,including the task description,the translation process,the theoretical framework,the case study and the conclusion,this report is meant to serve as a reference to English psychological book translation.
