The "Global Autism Project",founded in November,2003 by Ms.Pinney,is an international organization aiming to provide professional support and mentoring for autism recovery centers around the globe. In September,2017,the "Global Autism Project" started its collaboration with Nanchang Huicong Children Rehabilitation Training Center and two months later sent two senior behavior analysts,Kristy and Kathy,to Nanchang to provide all-around guidance. The reporter undertook the interpreting project and received positive feedback from the clients. In the process of this project, the reporter was encountered with two types of obstacles-from the perspective of interpreting and those beyond interpreting. The former is reflected in three aspects:unfamiliarity with the field of autism recovery;underperformance resulting from taking incomplete notes;poor reception of the source language input.resulting from noisy working environment; The latter is related to the reporter's vague understanding of the interpreter's multiple role, confusion about the degree of her intervention, and improper communication with autistic children.Drawing upon eminent interpreters and previous research as well as her reflections, the reporter proposes comprehensive solutions to these problems. The solutions are divided into two parts accordingly. With regard to interpreting, the interpreter should make full preparation for professional knowledge,in particular, terminology, concerning autism recovery, strengthen interpreting practice without the assistance of notes, and produce good working environment. With regard to those beyond interpreting, the interpreter should enhance the awareness of being a cultural mediator, restrain from intervention, and cooperate with teachers as well as the autistic kids' parents.Based on thorough analysis of first-hand data, the paper will provide assistance for interpreters in medical field, autism recovery,in particular;it will also enrich the database in this field which attracts growing attention in recent years.
