A Translation Report On Next Generation Clean Diesel Engines

Nowadays,China is accelerating its pace of modernization and trade with other countries is becoming more frequent.As a result,automotive markets is flourishing and thriving.Advanced and new types of automobiles incessantly flew into the Chinese automobile market,but has also brought an urgent and tough problem at the same time,such as air pollution,especially a plenty of NOx.The latest generation of modern Diesel engines can fix this problem.Which it has a comprehensive and efficient exhaust emission reduction concept features,taking into account fuels from renewable resources with negligible pollutant emissions.This report is based on the translation practices of Next Generation Clean Diesel Engines.This translation text is an Automobile English text which is different from general English text with unique in terms of vocabulary,syntax,function,discourse and so on.It also has strong professionalism,few related documents,and high requirements for background and professional knowledge makes this translation project difficult.For the technical terminology,traditional professional dictionaries and web search engine and computer-aided translation software were used.In particular,Trados has established a mini-bank of terminology to improve the efficiency and accuracy of translation.For professional background knowledge,a large number of domestic reference books and parallel texts were read,consulting professionals.It is well known that English source text has some characteristics in vocabulary,syntax and main functions comparing with English texts and it is much professional.Therefore,the exclusive study should be made to conclude its characteristics and master the aim of translating the text.Then as regard to its functions and language characteristics,choose a proper translation tragedy and convey the information accurately in the target text.During the process of translation,Nord's text analysis theory as the main guide,combined with other translation techniques and translation methods which are used to successfully translate the source text into concise,correct,complete and natural target text.It is sincerely hoped that the methods and suggestions can be helpful for other translators in similar translation practices in the future and promote the communication skills and economy in Diesel engines between China and other countries.
